Gustavus Looks Ahead to 45th Nobel Conference

The 45th annual Nobel Conference at Gustavus Adolphus College, scheduled for Oct. 6-7, 2009, is titled H₂O: Uncertain Resource and will focus on global issues surrounding water resources.

Dr. Leon Lederman, winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1988 and the Pritzker Professor of Science at the Illinois Institute of Technology, will give a free public lecture at Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday, Oct. 24.

Polar Explorer Ann Bancroft to Visit Gustavus

Polar explorer and Minnesota native Ann Bancroft will deliver the keynote address at the fourth annual Science and Nature Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Gustavus Adolphus College is the site of the conference which is sponsored by the South Central Service Cooperative and the Minnesota Center for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence.

The Delta Phi Omega sorority at Gustavus Adolphus College is preparing to hold its 10th annual Breast Cancer Benefit Lunch to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. The benefit will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 2 in the St. Peter and Heritage Banquet Rooms in the C. Charles Jackson Campus Center.

Robinson Steps Down as Director of the Nobel Conference

Dr. Timothy Robinson, Professor of Psychology at Gustavus Adolphus College, is stepping down as Director of the Nobel Conference at the conclusion of this year's conference on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Robinson will be replaced by Charles Niederriter, Professor of Physics at the College.

Commission Gustavus 150 Announced

At a gala evening following President Jack R. Ohle's inauguration as Gustavus Adolphus College's 16th president on Oct. 3, 2008, Gustavus Board of Trustees Chair James H. Gale announced Commission Gustavus 150, a major initiative to chart the College's future and plan for its Sesquicentennial in 2012. The Commission will be led by Warren Beck '67, President of Edina-based Gabbert & Beck.
