Gustavus Adolphus College invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position that includes the program directorship of our Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) in the Department of Health and Exercise Science. The position begins September 1, 2009.

The successful candidate must be a BOC-certified athletic trainer and hold or be eligible for Minnesota state registration and have 5 years of administrative leadership experience in an athletic training program (including experience with CAATE accreditation), an earned doctorate in athletic training or related field, and undergraduate teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have taught ATEP theory and methods courses and anatomy/physiology lectures and laboratory. Preference will also be given to candidates who can be appointed at the Associate Professor level (PhD + administrative experience in athletic training). However, candidates at the Assistant Professor level will be considered (ABD + 10 years athletic training experience, much of it in an administrative capacity).

Primary responsibilities include providing leadership and coordination within the Athletic Training Education Program, working effectively with the Clinical Education Coordinator and Clinical Athletic Training staff, continuation of CAATE accreditation, instruction of undergraduate theory courses within the ATEP, and human anatomy and physiology lectures and labs. As a member of the faculty, the successful candidate will advise and supervise undergraduate students, pursue scholarly interests, and participate in professional, college, and community service. Previous academic experience with diverse populations is highly desirable.

Specific responsibilities:
• Assist in the identification, training and motivation of alumni volunteers including class agents, alumni board, sub-committees of the alumni board, reunion committees, and other alumni association leaders
• Assist in the creation of and on-going support of shared interest groups, focusing on the training and motivation of the volunteer leaders for these groups
• Lead the production and posting of material for the alumni web pages, other social networking site, and electronic communication to alumni
• Assist in planning and production of class reunions and Homecoming
• Create and direct program to inculcate current students with the spirit and history of the alumni community including, but not limited to collaborating with other departments in connecting alumni with faculty and current students, planning and implementing senior transition programs, Senior Week, and Career Center mentoring and networking programs

Gustavus Adolphus College is seeking applications for the position of head football coach. Gustavus, a selective liberal arts college, competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as an NCAA Division III member. Gustavus' intercollegiate athletic program sponsors 25 sports; thirteen for women and twelve for men. Gustavus is proud of its fine athletics tradition in which football has won 22 MIAC championships throughout its rich history. In 2007 the college opened a new football stadium. The college has finished among the top twenty-five Division III colleges in the Director's Cup competition recognizing the All-Sports national champion in eight of the last ten years.

Principal responsibilities include the organization and administration of the football program, recruitment of qualified student-athletes to a selective liberal arts college, and the planning and application of competent and knowledgeable coaching methods and strategies for practices and games. The head coach will also be expected to either teach classes or assume additional administrative duties assigned by the director of athletics.

The successful applicant will be an experienced and confident coach who can successfully motivate young men to achieve common goals. The coach will have excellent character traits, a cooperative attitude in working with the administration, and an interest in promoting the program amongst our alumni and friends. It is important that the coach understand and share a commitment to the Division III philosophy and student athlete academic progress. Finally, the coach will be expected to uphold the policies, rules and regulations of Gustavus Adolphus College, the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and NCAA Division III.

Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a full time Gift Planner in the Office of Institutional Advancement. This person will focus on the cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gifts of $25,000+, aggressively securing an increasing stream of income for Gustavus. This person will build and maintain relationships with prospects, and collaborate with Board members, volunteers, faculty, and other staff members in the development and implementation of invitation strategies.

Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in a discipline related to the field is helpful. Five years experience in successfully cultivating, soliciting and closing major outright, deferred, and annual fund gifts is preferred. Non-development experience in areas of estate and financial planning or a closely related profession will be considered.

Gustavus Adolphus College seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant in the Department of Safety and Security.

Candidates for this position will be responsible for overall office management: supervision of support and student office staff; systems maintenance (data, budget, and records); correspondence, scheduling and receptionist functions; independent oversight; and coordination of an office environment characterized by professionalism and friendliness.

Candidates must have a high school degree or equivalency and a minimum of 2-4 years of administrative office secretarial experience in a confidential environment.
